Number of participating countries at EXPO exceeded all expectations – MFA

More than 112 countries and 18 international organizations will participate in the exhibition “EXPO-2017”, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrissov reported at the press conference.

“Initially, it was planned to attract 100 countries and 10 international organizations. As a result, we have managed 112 countries and 18 international organizations confirmed the participation in EXPO-2017. 108 commissioners have been assigned. However, the work on attracting the participants will continue”, – said Ye. Idrissov.

The minister also noted that the department has done a great job.

“Attracting international participants – is a complex process. Each Kazakh Embassy identified responsible employees for EXPO 2017 at the level of advisers. Negotiations with the ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in Kazakhstan are being conducted”, – said Mr. Idrissov.

In addition, the Minister told that as part of the xhibition, it is planned to hold major international events.

“These are: the 16th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the first in the history of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation OIC summit on science and technology; Economic and ecological conference of the OSCE; Traditional Astana Economic Forum and the Eurasian media forum, the ministerial meeting on tourism, green energy and other relevant events”, – informed Ye. Idrissov.
