UN supports creation of Green tech center on the basis of EXPO-2017

UN supports the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to establish a center of green technologies on the basis of the EXPO-2017, it was announced during the meeting of Chairman of the Board of “NC “Astana EXPO-2017” JSC Akhmetzhan Yessimov with UN Commissioner, Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS Cihan Sultanoglu, during which the United Nations signed an agreement to participate in the exhibition.

The sides discussed issues of preparation for EXPO-2017. Akhmetzhan Yessimov informed that currently 18 countries have already received pavilions and began themed exposition. He expressed confidence that the UN exhibition will demonstrate the best projects and the achievement of the organization in the field of renewable energy.

Mrs. Sultanoglu praised Kazakhstan’s leadership in promoting sustainable development goals (SDGs) as well as the country’s ability to engage in dialogue and promote the adoption of sustainable and rational use of energy measures.

“We support Nursultan Nazarbayev’s initiative to establish a center of green technology and are ready to support this project. I am confident that the exhibition will be an excellent opportunity for Kazakhstan to give impetus to the theme of sustainable energy. UN is ready to contribute”, – she said.

The national company noted that the role of the Commissioner-General of the United Nations at EXPO-2017, D. Sultanoglu coordinate the participation of the entire United Nations system in the exhibition.
